CBV Institute is pleased to be hosting its 2023 Virtual Awards & Honours Ceremony on Thursday, June 1, 2023, from Noon – 1:00 p.m. ET.

The annual virtual Awards & Honours Ceremony serves to recognize excellence in the business valuation profession and the achievements of Students in the CBV Program of Studies. Recipients will be recognized at a virtual gathering led by CBV Institute’s leadership team and Patrick Coady, FCPA, FCA, FCBV, Board Chair, CBV Institute.

HELP US GROW THE CBV PROFESSION

CBV Institute is hosting a series of roadshows across the country to introduce financial professionals to the challenging, unique, and fulfilling work that is a career in the CBV profession. The objective of the event is to familiarize attendees with the value of the CBV designation, and ultimately encourage these professionals to enrol in the CBV Program of Studies.

These events are taking place from May 9 – May 16, 2023, in the following cities: Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Halifax.

UPCOMING GLOBAL VIRTUAL TOWNHALL

Current economic conditions and global markets have brought about significant challenges for the valuation profession. In light of this, we're pleased to announce the upcoming Global Town Hall, hosted by the American Society of Appraisers (ASA), CBV Institute, Global Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (GACVA), National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA), and Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Taking place on May 16, 2023, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm ET, this free virtual event is a must-attend for CBVs seeking to stay ahead of the curve. The Global Town Hall will be moderated by Catalina Miranda, Vice President, Regulatory and Standards, CBV Institute, and will feature expert speakers, panel discussions, and Q&A sessions. The event will promote dialogue, share knowledge, provide guidance, and field questions from the live/virtual global audience. The discussions will focus on current and trending issues that impact the practice of business valuation, appraisal, and litigation matters around the globe. The panelists will also discuss the impact of macroeconomic trends and other current risks on transactions, the impacts of supply chain disruption, and the landscape of financial litigation.

Attendees will also earn 2 hours of CPD, making this an excellent opportunity to boost their professional development.

GLOBAL STANDARDS: IVSC EXPOSURE DRAFT

The International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC) has launched a 3-month public consultation on proposed changes to International Valuation Standards (IVS).

The exposure draft reflects ongoing changes in global markets and valuation practices, increasing use of technology and data sources, growing demand for clarity in valuation processes, and the need to address new types of assets and liabilities, including environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors.

As part of the consultation, the IVSC is hosting informational webinars in May. Register here.

Read the full exposure draft here. Comments are due by July 28; submit online or via email to IVSC Technical Director, Alexander Aronsohn (aaronsohn@ivsc.org). The updated standards are expected to be published in January 2024, with an effective date of July 2024.
