SPONSORED RESEARCH INITIATIVE - CALL FOR PROPOSALSSince its inception, the Sponsored Research Initiative has annually sponsored CBVs, academics, and students to further innovative research in the business valuation field. Proposals for the Sponsored Research Initiative are due by September 30, 2021. The Sponsored Research Initiative was started by CBV Institute in 2004 to foster original and ground-breaking research in business and intangible asset valuation, and related topics. This year the CBV Institute’s topics of interest are internally generated intangible asset valuation and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) in a business valuation context, though all topics which could result in useful and relevant research papers on emerging issues of interest to business valuation professionals are welcome. |

AUTOMATED BUSINESS VALUATION PLATFORMS/SOFTWAREWeb-based valuation platforms are becoming increasingly popular - not just in the real property valuation space where they have existed for some time - but for business valuation as well. These applications can be a compelling option due to their apparent ability to automate certain aspects of modelling, prepare valuation calculations, compile and summarize comparable market transactions, and prepare reports. CBV Institute is aware that many CBVs have recently been approached regarding such valuation platforms. Members and Students are reminded that valuation conclusions must be credible and properly supported in order to be compliant with the Practice Standards. |

EXPOSURE DRAFT RELEASEDCBV Institute has published an Exposure Draft concerning revisions to the practice standards for independent valuations (Practice Standards Nos. 110, 120 and 130, or “the Standards”) for Member comment. The Exposure Draft contains proposed changes which impact Calculation Valuation Reports, as well as other targeted improvements. MQE 2021 – MOODLE AND EXAMITYMQE Moodle Page Individuals who have applied to write the 2021 MQE now have access to the Moodle page. Examity – Scheduling Your MQE and Practice Quiz All MQE Candidates must write their course exams with Examity. In order to write the MQE using Examity, Candidates must first set up a profile in Examity (if they have not already done so for course exams) and schedule their exam. This must be done by SEPTEMBER 15, 2021. |
