Session: The Virtual Expert - How To Effectively Use Technology in Trial

With a shift to virtual trials and arbitrations, triers of fact and litigators are adopting technology at unprecedent speed. Join The Honourable Madam Justice Kristine Eidsvik, Court of Queen's Bench of Alberta, Calgary Alberta and Mr. Andrew Wilson, Firm Chairperson of JSS Barristers in this session where they discuss how expert reports, accompanying exhibits, and document management are being handled during virtual trials. The session will include a brief demonstration of a currently used digital document management program and tips and traps for experts when preparing reports and providing testimony in the new virtual courtroom world.

2022 ANNUAL AND SPECIAL MEETING OF MEMBERS

CBV Institute's 2022 Annual and Special Meeting of Members will be held on June 16, 2022, at 3:30 PM ET. The meeting will be held electronically using a corporate governance platform provided and hosted by GetQuorum.

You should receive an email from GetQuorum on May 10, 2022 giving Notice of the meeting and advising you how to attend. In addition, you will be asked to submit a proxy if you cannot attend. Materials for the meeting will be distributed through the GetQuorum platform. The email from GetQuorum will be sent to the preferred email address in your profile that you selected to receive communications from CBV Institute.

SUMMER TERM 2022 REGISTRATION CLOSING

Registration for Summer Term 2022 in the CBV Program of Studies is closing on Monday, May 9th, at 11:59 PM ET. The process for registration for this term differs from previous terms. Please ensure you give yourself ample time to register.

CONGRESS COCKTAIL GALA – TICKETS AVAILABLE

MQE 2022 - REGISTRATION OPEN

Registration for the 2022 Membership Qualification Exam (MQE) is open. The date of the 2022 MQE is Wednesday September 21, 2022.

Starting in 2022, materials for the MQE will no longer be hosted on York’s Moodle platform. All documents such as policies, mandatory course notes, past MQE booklets and solutions, and Examity information will be provided on the candidate’s account on cbvinstitute.com once they have registered.

Disclosure and Confidentiality: What Courts Require of CBVs?
	Join Tara Singh and Matthew Yee (FTI Consulting) as they explore the CBV’s role as either an independent or consulting expert, with a particular focus on disclosure and confidentiality. Drawing on case examples from Canada and abroad, this session will delve into the requirements to disclose known and potential conflicts of interest and best practices to preserve independence and navigate ethical requirements.
