INFORMATION ABOUT VERBAL CONCLUSIONSAt times, Members may be communicating conclusions in formats other than in writing (via verbal valuation conclusions or verbal expert reports). In an environment where meetings can easily be recorded, the practice of verbal conclusions can be a risk area. The Institute wishes to remind Members of their professional obligations when they verbally conclude on value or provide their professional opinion as to the quantum of financial gain/loss or any conclusion of a financial nature in the context of litigation or a dispute. Examples of situations where this may arise include matrimonial and other disputes, including collaborative practice situations, or any other situations where a client is asking the CBV for “a number”. |
