AT-LARGE DIRECTOR - EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

We will hold our election of Directors to the Board of Directors during our Annual Meeting of Members on June 16, 2022, in Toronto. The Governance and Nomination Committee of the Board assumes responsibility for the nomination of suitable CBVs for election to the Board of Directors in addition to Members elected in respect of a Region. This year, there is at least one At-large Director seat up for nomination by the Governance and Nomination Committee. At-large Directors serve for a three-year term.

In order to be considered by the Governance and Nomination Committee, please express your interest by following the application process detailed in the Board of Directors At-Large Position Profile by January 31, 2022.

We Need Your Help to Shape the Institute’s CPD Offerings!

Based on your feedback over the past year, CBV Institute has compiled a list of targeted webinar topics. If you are interested in presenting one of these topics, or know a lawyer, investment professional or industry expert that would be interested in providing cutting-edge content for valuation professionals, we are accepting webinar proposals.

In addition to the list provided, CBV Institute is also interested in knowing if there are any other topics that you would like to see presented via webinar.

REGIONAL DIRECTOR ELECTION

In our ongoing commitment to professional excellence, the Institute’s Leadership has adopted a proactive approach to recruit candidates to serve on our Board of Directors (Board). Every seat on our Board plays an important role in supporting us to meet our critical strategic goals for our future. We want to alert you now that we will be holding an election in early 2022 for the following Regions:

the Province of British Columbia and the Territory of Yukon (“British Columbia”),
the Provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, and the Territories of Nunavut and Northwest Territories (“Prairies”),
the City of Toronto, and
the Provinces of Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island (“Atlantic”)

MEMBERSHIP SPECIAL STATUS REMINDER

A reminder that CBVs need to submit their special status form for the upcoming membership renewal. This should be done as soon as possible.

If you're considering applying for any special membership statuses (parental leave, retiree, financial hardship, disability or education), submit your form to membership@cbvinstitute.com. Please note, if you currently are a retired member, you do NOT need to resubmit a retiree form.

IVS COURSE UPDATED & NOW FREE

Have you taken your IVS course yet? Now is the time!

CBV Institute’s online course on International Valuation Standards has been updated to reflect recent enhancements to the IVS, effective January 31, 2022. This IVS course provides essential learning of the key requirements for IVS compliance from a CBV lens. Given the increasing importance of IVS and the Institute’s continued examination of IVS adoption, we have decided to make IVS training more accessible to the membership, and are making the course free of charge for CBVs and Students.

More about the course:

Designed and created by CBVs for CBVs, this custom e-learning course covers what CBVs and Students need to know and understand to complete IVS compliant valuations, as well as a comparison between IVS requirements and those of existing Practice Standards. The course offers 3 hours of verifiable CPD, subject to a test on completion. On successful completion, CBVs obtain the special notation “IVS trained” on the “Find a CBV” locator on cbvinstitute.com.
