Environmental, social and governance factors impact all businesses – some can create value and others erode the value of a business. Join us as we explore the varied ways in which ESG can impact value, both short term and long term. Canada’s largest pension plans – CPPIB, OTPP and OMERS - which together have over $860 billion in assets under management, are at the forefront of climate change and ESG valuation issues, given their responsibility to actively manage and disclose climate and ESG-related risks. As responsible investors, these pension plans and their finance teams understand the importance of ESG related information and the type of information investors are demanding today, and have taken action to align their investment strategies with this in mind. As valuators everywhere continue to grapple with imperfect information with which to measure ESG factors, failing to consider valuation issues from an ESG lens is no longer prudent.

CONGRESS COCKTAIL GALA – TICKETS AVAILABLE

The Young Professionals in Valuation (YPV) Organizing Committee is pleased to announce the release of 50 tickets to the Cocktail Gala at CBV Congress 2022, for young CBV professionals and Students not already attending Congress.

MQE 2022 - REGISTRATION OPEN

Registration for the 2022 Membership Qualification Exam (MQE) is open. The date of the 2022 MQE is Wednesday September 21, 2022.

Starting in 2022, materials for the MQE will no longer be hosted on York’s Moodle platform. All documents such as policies, mandatory course notes, past MQE booklets and solutions, and Examity information will be provided on the candidate’s account on cbvinstitute.com once they have registered.

IVSC SURVEY ON ESG & VALUATIONS

The International Standards Valuation Council (IVSC) has launched a survey series exploring the evolution of ESG considerations in the valuation process. Relevant to CBVs is the survey aimed at valuers and valuation providers, to better understand where they are on their journey in relation to the quantification of ESG within their working practices. The survey takes 5 min, and responses are welcome until April 30th.

CBV Institute is a member of the IVSC’s ESG working group and is providing input to IVSC on standard-setting related to ESG.

Disclosure and Confidentiality: What Courts Require of CBVs?
	Join Tara Singh and Matthew Yee (FTI Consulting) as they explore the CBV’s role as either an independent or consulting expert, with a particular focus on disclosure and confidentiality. Drawing on case examples from Canada and abroad, this session will delve into the requirements to disclose known and potential conflicts of interest and best practices to preserve independence and navigate ethical requirements.

Congress Cocktail Gala
	Our countdown to CBV Congress 2022 is underway! In just six short weeks we will be in Vancouver, taking in thoughtful presentations from CBV experts and leading industry professionals. However, we know that not everyone will be able to attend Congress. In light of this, the Young Professionals in Valuation Organizing Committee is pleased to open registration for the first 50 young professionals who would like to attend the gala networking cocktail reception on June 6th.
