PAMELA STEER NAMED CPA CANADA CEO

Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada) has announced the appointment of Pamela Steer, FCPA, FCA, CFA, CBV, as incoming CEO, effective April 19, 2022. Pamela has worked in the technology and financial services industries, including publicly traded, private and regulated entities in Canada and abroad. She was also honoured as Canada’s CFO of the Year in 2019.

In the spirit of collaboration we enjoy with CPA Canada, we look forward to working with Pamela in her new role. Congratulations!

PRAIRIES REGIONAL DIRECTOR – ONLINE VOTING OPEN

All Members whose principal place of business is in the Provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, and the Territories of Nunavut and Northwest Territories (“Prairies”) received an email from Simply Voting on April 8th at 12:01 AM that included instructions on how to access their ballot and vote online. Online voting opened on April 8th at 12:01 AM ET and will close on April 30th at 11:59 PM ET.

WINTER TERM 2022 GRADES

Winter Term 2022 grades have been posted in Students’ CBV accounts. Students should have received notification via email. Feedback includes their marks per question and overall comments on exam performance.

CBV CONGRESS 2022 – EARLY BIRD DEADLINE

The early bird deadline for the most anticipated CBV event of the year – CBV Congress 2022 – is approaching. Register by April 30th to save money and join us live in Vancouver this June 6th & 7th.

MQE 2022 - REGISTRATION OPEN

Registration for the 2022 Membership Qualification Exam (MQE) is open. The date of the 2022 MQE is Wednesday September 21, 2022.

Starting in 2022, materials for the MQE will no longer be hosted on York’s Moodle platform. All documents such as policies, mandatory course notes, past MQE booklets and solutions, and Examity information will be provided on the candidate’s account on cbvinstitute.com once they have registered.

PRACTICE INSPECTION FINDINGS

2021 Practice Inspection Summary Report Released

We are pleased to share the results of the third year of the Practice Inspection Program. The 2021 inspections covered work products issued during January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2020. Overall, the 2021 inspection results were positive; however, there were areas where compliance with applicable professional standards can be improved.
