INSTITUTE-SPONSORED RESEARCH PUBLISHED

In support of CBV Institute’s strategic priorities of advancing valuation knowledge and advancing brand strength, we routinely fund the development of research and thought leadership, relevant to CBVs and the public, through our Sponsored Research Initiative.

We are pleased to announce the publication of a recent research paper titled, “Prejudgement Interest: The Law, The Theory, and Implications for Practice”, and authored by CBVs Zachary Huxley and Guillaume Lafrance. The paper can be found in our CBV Insights – Sponsored Research periodical.

In this paper, the authors address prejudgement interest, an issue that is often overlooked by courts, lawyers, and financial experts alike. The paper highlights common issues and provides recommendations for practice. Relevant aspects of law in Ontario and Quebec are summarized and followed by an exploration of theoretical literature. The authors then delve into an empirical study of certain informative judgements that implicated CBVs as expert witnesses and conclude by discussing implications for current practice.
