CBV Institute is pleased to announce a recent update to the Find a CBV section of our website. Now featuring a more robust search capability, the CBV Institute Member Directory allows the public to quickly search for CBVs by name, area of professional practice, geographic location, and profile keywords. The improved functionality and ease of use makes this page an effective tool for members of the public searching for business valuation practitioners.

RE-EXPOSURE DRAFT - DEADLINE APPROACHING

This Re-exposure Draft concerning proposed revisions to the practice standards for independent valuations (Practice Standards Nos. 110, 120 and 130, or “the Standards”) is issued by The Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators (“CBV Institute”) for comment. This is the second exposure draft on this topic and is an update to the exposure draft dated June 3, 2021. This Re-exposure Draft contains proposed changes which impact all valuation conclusions and reports, including Calculation Valuation Reports.

All comments must be submitted by September 30, 2022.

FCBV DESIGNATION NOMINATIONS OPEN

Granting of the Fellow designation is the highest honour CBV Institute confers. The FCBV recognizes those Members who have demonstrated acknowledged achievements in the following fields of activity:

  • provided distinguished service to the business valuation profession, and
  • brought significant recognition to the business valuation profession.

BUSINESS VALUATION CHALLENGE 2022

We encourage you to share this event with any undergraduate students, student groups, instructors and/or professors you may know!

Registration for the 2022 Business Valuation Challenge, a national business valuation case competition for undergraduate students across Canada, is now open. The Challenge will be taking place on November 17 and 18, 2022.

UPCOMING PROGRAM OF STUDIES DEADLINES

Scheduling Exam Deadline – Friday, October 21

If you haven’t already, please schedule your course exams on Examity by October 21. Due to an upgrade in Examity all students must create Examity profile first. Detailed instructions on how to create a profile and schedule exams is provided on Moodle under “Examity Student User Guide”.

Exam Opt-Out Deadline – Monday, October 24

York University will send all students a link to opt-out of their course exam if they so wish. After opting-out of an exam, a reduced re-enrolment price will automatically apply when you register for that course in the next semester. Students will not be permitted to opt-out of their exam after this deadline.

Deadline to Apply for Academic Accommodations – Monday, October 24

In order to apply for academic accommodations, students may submit the appropriate documentation to education@cbvinstitute.com.

Practice Quiz Completion – Thursday, October 27

Registration for the Examity Practice Quiz is open to all students in the CBV Program of Studies, and mandatory for all students in the Level I BV course. The practice quiz must be completed by October 27.

CBV Institute is pleased to announce that it has negotiated a discounted rate for CBVs and Registered Students for ICAEW’s (Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales) Data Analytics Certificate Programme.

The certificate programme, available in both management and analyst streams, is specifically tailored for the finance profession, teaching leaners how to apply data analytics to answer practical business questions. Of relevance to most CBVs, the management pathway is designed for finance leaders seeking to understand the business benefits of applying data analytics, how to develop operational data analytics capabilities, or how to interpret data analytics output. Completion of this programme counts towards up to 30 verifiable CPD hours for the Management pathway and up to 60 hours for the Analyst pathway.
