 HALL OF HONOURS NOMINATIONS CLOSE TOMORROW

The nomination deadline for Hall of Honours nominations is tomorrow.

FCBV Designation

Granting of the Fellow designation is the highest honour CBV Institute confers. The FCBV recognizes those Members who have demonstrated acknowledged achievements in the following fields of activity:

• provided distinguished service to the business valuation profession, and
• brought significant recognition to the business valuation profession.

Life Member Designation

The designation of Life Member is granted to Members who have attained eminence in the field of business valuation and who have retired from active practice as a business valuator.

DID YOU KNOW? REGISTERED STUDENTS AND THE STANDARDS

Are you in compliance?

Some Registered Students practice publicly, either as a sole practitioner or as part of a firm, and they may sign reports. Even if these reports do not disclose that the individual is a Registered Student of CBV Institute, the Practice Standards still apply.

IASB RETAINS IMPAIRMENT APPROACH TO GOODWILL

The International Accounting Standards Board has voted to retain the impairment-only approach to account for goodwill. This tentative decision culminates a thorough evaluation that began with the Post-implementation Review of IFRS 3 Business Combinations in 2014.

This decision is widely considered a “win” for the global business valuation profession, which presented arguments against the proposed goodwill amortization model.

In September 2022, the IASB also voted to add disclosure requirements to IFRS 3 on information about the subsequent performance of an acquisition, including new disclosures on metrics and targets for strategically important business combinations.

Registration for the Winter 2023 term opens on Monday, December 12, 2022. The deadline to register for the Winter term is January 12, 2022. Please register early, late registrations will not be accepted.

Nominations are open for Top CBV Under 40 in Memory of David Cornfield CA, CBV, recognizing an exceptional CBV on-the-rise in his or her career who has demonstrated success in a broad diversity of interests, brought distinction to the profession, and embodies outstanding service. Such a CBV is inspiring not only for career accomplishment but for realizing meaningful ways of giving back while achieving impressive professional goals.
