CBV Institute is pleased to share our Strategic Plan for 2022-2025, Building on 50 Years of Excellence, which will help guide the Institute and the CBV profession into the future. This plan was developed in consultation with hundreds of participants and stakeholders, and is a product of months of work. As you read it, we hope you are inspired to find opportunities to partner with us in the vision to grow and enhance the business valuation profession in Canada and around the world.

2022 CBV AMBASSADOR OF THE YEAR RECIPIENT

This award is granted annually to a CBV or student who, through their contributions, has provided distinguished service to CBV Institute. It is an exemplary award, acknowledging the extraordinary dedication and service of volunteers in advancing CBV Institute’s initiatives and goals. We are pleased to announce that the 2022 recipient is Jennifer Samarco, CPA, CA, CBV.

Congratulations, Jennifer, on this fantastic achievement!

As part of this award, a donation of $1,000 was made at the request of Jennifer to The Children’s Book Bank in Toronto, ON.


CBV CONGRESS 2022 – REGISTRATION OPEN

The most anticipated CBV event of the year – CBV Congress 2022 – is back, live in Vancouver this June 6th & 7th.

Early bird registration deadline is April 30th.

REGIONAL DIRECTOR ELECTIONS CANDIDATES

In accordance with the By-laws, CBV Institute is to report to the Members, prior to the end of the nominating period, the nominations that have been received for each region. We are pleased to report that the following Member has been nominated, to date, for election as a Regional Director as follows:

  • The Provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, and the Territories of Nunavut and Northwest Territories ("Prairies")

MQE 2022 - REGISTRATION OPEN

Registration for the 2022 MQE is open. The date of the 2022 MQE is Wednesday September 21, 2022.

Starting in 2022, materials for the MQE will no longer be hosted on York’s Moodle platform. All documents such as policies, mandatory course notes, past MQE booklets and solutions, and Examity information will be provided on the candidate’s account on cbvinstitute.com once they have registered.

The Role of the CBV in Indigenous Litigation
Indigenous reconciliation is an important and evolving area in law and understanding where CBVs can provide value within the context of Indigenous litigation and disputes is critical. Join Timothy Zimmerman, Stephen Lee, and Josh Morrison as they provide an introduction to the Indigenous litigation space, review a brief history of landmark decisions and discuss potential future developments. The presentation will focus on damage quantification in Specific Claims cases, reviewing a number of past and recent legal decisions that have created unique differences in assessing equitable compensation in Specific Claims and economic damages/business losses arising from commercial disputes.
