2021 CBV AMBASSADOR OF THE YEAR RECIPIENT

This award is granted annually to a CBV or student who, through their contributions, has provided distinguished service to CBV Institute. It is an exemplary award, acknowledging the extraordinary dedication and service of volunteers in advancing CBV Institute’s initiatives and goals. Congratulations Ron Martindale Jr., 2021 Recipient, on this wonderful achievement!

As part of this award, a donation was made at the request of Ron to “Enhancing the Surgical Hub of St Joseph’s” in London, ON in the amount of $ 1,000.

QC REGIONAL ELECTION NOMINATIONS

As the term of the Director elected in 2018 for the Province of Quebec is completed in 2021, the Board of Directors authorized that an election for a Director for this Region take place. In accordance with the By-laws, CBV Institute is to report to the Members, prior to the end of the nominating period, the nominations that have been received for each region. 

We are pleased to report that the following Member has been nominated, to date, for election as a Regional Director for the Province of Québec:

ESG AND BUSINESS VALUATION

The IVSC has released a Perspectives Paper on the topic of Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) as it relates to business valuation theory and practice. The paper lays out some of the technical areas of business valuations that are most likely to be affected: understanding of the business and ESG profile of the company– what is the “relevant” ESG criteria for a particular business and its industry beta comparable companies who “owns” the forecast in a DCF – the valuator or management? What is the valuator’s obligation regarding the forecast assumptions? long term growth rates company-specific risk

CBV Institute is giving consideration to assembling a task force of CBVs to delve deeper into how ESG should be addressed by our profession, both in practice and throughout the Program of Studies.
