CBV INSTITUTE COMMENTS ON DRAFT IFRS SUSTAINABILITY STANDARDS

CBV Institute issued its comments on the Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB)’s exposure drafts containing new proposed standards for sustainability-related financial information (IFRS S1) and climate-related disclosures (IFRS S2). A key feature of the proposed standards is a focus on enterprise value (EV), a concept that is central to the CBV profession. The disclosures are meant to allow investors to assess the effect of significant sustainability-related risks and opportunities on the amount, timing and uncertainty of future cash flows over the short, medium and long term and the value attributed to those cash flows. CBV Institute is a strong supporter of the development of high-quality global standards for sustainability reporting.

Read the Institute’s responses on the IFRS Foundation’s website here (IFRS S1), and here (IFRS S2).

BUSINESS VALUATION CHALLENGE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

CBV Institute is excited to announce that we will be hosting the first national business valuation university case competition in late fall (November). The challenge will provide university students with the opportunity to learn more about business valuation and the profession. The Institute is looking for CBVs who are interested in volunteering as judges for the challenge presentations and/or developing the case. The case developer will be compensated, and previous exam/case development experience is preferred.

Stay tuned for details regarding valuable networking, recruiting, and sponsorship opportunities related to the challenge, which will be communicated over the summer.
