In our ongoing commitment to professional excellence, the Institute's Leadership has adopted a proactive approach to recruit candidates to serve on our Board of Directors (Board). Every seat on our Board plays an important role in supporting us to meet our critical strategic goals for our future. We want to alert you now that we will be holding an election in early 2024 for:

  • the Province of Ontario, not including the City of Toronto.
  • the Province of Quebec

All Members in this specified Region were sent a Notice of Election on January 5, 2024, which included a link to the Regional Director Position Profile.

This exciting initiative seeks to showcase the dynamic world of business valuation as processes are reimagined to incorporate AI. Targeted at young professionals with CPA or CFA designations and university students, the series aims to highlight the growing role of AI in business valuation, offer insights into the profession's future, and inspire the upcoming generation to consider the CBV designation. We are seeking CBVs who are eager to share their expertise and experiences in this ground-breaking series.

KROLL’S COST OF CAPITAL – DISCOUNT AVAILABLE

We have updated our partnership with Kroll to offer their Cost of Capital Navigator at 15% off to Members and Registered Students. This online resource guides valuators through the process of developing global cost of capital estimates.

Note that Kroll has announced changes to the Cost of Capital Navigator product offerings, effectively streamlining its products into two modules – one for U.S. datasets and another for International datasets. Canadian data is included in the International Cost of Capital Module.

Global M&A activity slowed in 2023 including cross-border deals between the U.S. and Canada. This presentation will analyze M&A volume and valuation multiples in recent years and look forward to 2024. Jon C. Doehr, Managing Director of Cascade Partners LLC (a U.S. Middle-Market Investment Banking Firm) will present data on investment into the U.S. from Canada and from the U.S. into Canada, paying particular attention to trends around types of buyers (financial, strategic, other) and investment by sectors.
