MQE 2024 - CALL FOR QUESTIONS

Preparations for the 2024 MQE are under way! CBVs interested in submitting a question for the 2024 MQE should submit a 1-page synopsis of their question to CBV Institute's Education Department, at education@cbvinstitute.com, by Monday, January 8, 2024.

CBVs will be invited to the 2024 MQE Authors Clinic (on Friday, January 12, 2024) based in part on their synopsis.


CBV VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – U OF A CAREER FAIR

Help us promote the profession! CBV Institute has been invited to attend a Finance Program Fair on January 16, 2024, at the University of Alberta. This event, running from 11-3 PM aims to introduce finance students to a range of enriching opportunities for their degrees, including professional designations.

We are seeking 2 CBVs to attend this event to represent their profession, showcasing the value and expertise they bring to the finance sector. This event is a unique opportunity for CBVs to engage with budding finance professionals, promote the CBV profession, and share their real-world experiences and insights. It’s a great platform to inspire the next generation of CBVs and highlight the significant role they play in the business world.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM CBV INSTITUTE

The office will be closed from December 23, 2023, to January 2, 2024. We will reopen on January 3, 2024.

CBV Matters will be taking a two-week hiatus over the holidays. The last edition of CBV Matters in 2023 will be on December 20, and the first in 2024 will be on January 10.

While Bryan focuses on BC, his session will provide attendees with a temperature reading of what can be expexted nationally.

Explore the topic of minority discounts in publicly traded equities with Susan Glass, a retired partner from KPMG. In this session, she will examine all sides of the debate—"No", "Yes", and "Maybe"—integrating research and her recommendations. Special focus will be given to identifying factors that indicate the presence or absence of a discount, and its implications for valuation in various scenarios, including fairness opinions and litigation matters.
