VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – 2024 CBV ROADSHOWS

CBV Institute is hosting a series of roadshows across the country to introduce financial professionals to the challenging, unique, and fulfilling work that is a career in the CBV profession. The objective of the event is to familiarize attendees with the value of the CBV designation, and ultimately encourage these professionals to enroll in the CBV Program of Studies.

We are looking for CBVs to attend the event on behalf of CBV Institute. Your attendance would involve participating in the presentation of a pre-prepared slide deck, taking part in a Q&A session, and networking after.

All events are scheduled between 5:30 – 7:30 PM local time. Dates and locations are listed below.

Registration for the Summer 2024 term opens on Tuesday, April 16, 2024. The deadline to register for the Summer term is Friday, May 3, 2024. Please register early, late registrations will not be accepted.

BV RESOURCES: TRENDS & ISSUES IN BUSINESS VALUATION

Transcripts of archived webinars are included in our BVR portal (for access instructions, please click here and log in), including this recent training event, Power Panel: Trends and Issues in Business Valuation. Four seasoned expert witnesses discuss the nuances of testifying in US state or civil or federal cases, including what to do about professional standards when you have more than one credential, or are testifying against experts who have a different credential than you. They also discuss the advantages of hot-tubbing before expressing a conclusion to your client, the challenges of identifying reliable sources for reasonable compensation, and approaches to valuing control/noncontrol.

RECRUITMENT TOOL: JOB SATISFACTION SURVEY

CBV Institute is conducting a one-question survey asking Members and Registered Students (who are currently employed as a business valuator), seeking input on job satisfaction.

The results will be used in our marketing efforts to recruit students to the Program of Studies.

Updates to the International Valuation Standards
	On Jan 31, 2024, the newest edition of IVS was published. This comprehensive update includes the addition of new chapters, encompassing Data and Inputs, Valuation Models, and Reporting. The revised standards, effective from January 2025, also place increased emphasis on integrating ESG considerations into the valuation process. To facilitate understanding of the latest updates, join Catalina Miranda, VP, Regulatory & Standards, CBV Institute in a one-hour webinar, as she covers some of the key changes.
