Sponsored by EY, in honour of Ronald W. Scott CBV, this award is granted annually to the Student who achieved the highest average mark on all required courses in the CBV Program of Studies.

CONSULTATION ON STANDARD SETTING IN CANADA

The Independent Review Committee on Standard Setting in Canada is working on outlining key matters related to the governance and structure for establishing accounting, auditing, and assurance standards in Canada, as well what might be needed for the future – in particular sustainability standards. The Committee issued a Consultation Paper in December 2021 for public comment, seeking feedback.

IVSC RELEASES SURVEY ON ESG & VALUATIONS

The International Standards Valuation Council (IVSC) has launched a survey series exploring the evolution of ESG considerations in the valuation process. Relevant to CBVs is the survey aimed at valuers and valuation providers, to better understand where they are on their journey in relation to the quantification of ESG within their working practices. The survey takes 5 minutes, and responses are welcome until April 30th.

CBV Institute is a member of the IVSC’s ESG working group and is providing input to IVSC on standard-setting related to ESG.

The Role of the CBV in Indigenous Litigation
	Indigenous reconciliation is an important and evolving area in law and understanding where CBVs can provide value within the context of Indigenous litigation and disputes is critical. Join Timothy Zimmerman, Stephen Lee, and Josh Morrison as they provide an introduction to the Indigenous litigation space, review a brief history of landmark decisions and discuss potential future developments. The presentation will focus on damage quantification in Specific Claims cases, reviewing a number of past and recent legal decisions that have created unique differences in assessing equitable compensation in Specific Claims and economic damages/business losses arising from commercial disputes.
