CBV LEADERS TO JOIN IVSC BOARD

CBV Institute is pleased to share the news that two CBVs have been appointed to the IVSC’s Business Valuation Board. Congratulations to Catalina Miranda, CPA, CA, CBV, VP, Regulatory and Standards, CBV Institute, and Emily Tse, CFA, FRM, CBV, Managing Director, Valuation, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, both of whom will serve on the board from April 1, 2023. The Business Valuation Board brings together top global experts to oversee the development of international standards for business valuation, as part of IVS.

Business and intangible asset valuations play a critical role in today's global economy. As such, it is crucial that these valuations are performed in a consistent and transparent manner, in line with robust international standards. The Business Valuation Board is the technical board responsible for developing these standards and ensuring that they remain relevant and up to date.

Please join us in congratulating Catalina and Emily on this achievement.

EXPOSURE DRAFT RELEASED: ADOPTION OF IVS AS OPTIONAL USE PRACTICE STANDARDS

CBV Institute has released an exposure draft proposing the adoption and permitted (optional) use of the International Valuation Standards (IVS) as issued by the International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC) for independent valuation engagements which would otherwise be performed in accordance with CBV Institute Practice Standards Nos. 100, 110, 120 and 130. For clarity, IVS would be adopted as an option alongside, rather than replacing, Practice Standards Nos. 100, 110, 120 and 130.

CBV Institute and its Professional Practice and Standards Committee (PPSC) have been discussing the adoption of IVS for several years. The publication of this Exposure Draft is a significant step forward towards global harmonization of valuation standards for the benefit of the public interest. CBV Institute and CBVs have had a leading role in shaping IVS into what they are today – the leading internationally recognized standards for valuations of all asset types, including business valuation.
