EXPOSURE DRAFT RELEASED: ADOPTION OF IVS AS OPTIONAL USE PRACTICE STANDARDS

CBV Institute has released an exposure draft proposing the adoption and permitted (optional) use of the International Valuation Standards (IVS) as issued by the International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC) for independent valuation engagements which would otherwise be performed in accordance with CBV Institute Practice Standards Nos. 100, 110, 120 and 130. For clarity, IVS would be adopted as an option alongside, rather than replacing, Practice Standards Nos. 100, 110, 120 and 130. CBV Institute and its Professional Practice and Standards Committee (PPSC) have been discussing the adoption of IVS for several years. The publication of this Exposure Draft is a significant step forward towards global harmonization of valuation standards for the benefit of the public interest. VIDEO RELEASED ON CBV ROLE IN MATRIMONIAL PROCEEDINGS

CBV Institute is pleased to release the second in a multi-video series on the integral role CBVs play in litigation support. Hosted by Mathieu Lapointe, CBV, M.Sc., Senior Manager, PwC, each video covers a different topic and exposes audiences to the important role that CBVs play in litigation support.

In this, the second video, Mathieu interviews Catherine Richard, CPA, CBV, Managing Director, PwC Deals - Valuations and Disputes, and Iain Fraser, CPA, CA, CBV, Director, PwC Deals - Valuations and Disputes on the topic of the CBV’s role in matrimonial proceedings.

The speakers discuss the benefits of engaging CBVs in matrimonial proceedings, how a CBV complements the role of a lawyer in these types of engagements, how CBVs quantify notional income, and much more.

MQE 2023 - CALL FOR QUESTIONS

Preparations for the 2023 MQE are underway! CBVs interested in submitting a question for the 2023 MQE should submit a 1-page synopsis of their question to CBV Institute's Education Department, at education@cbvinstitute.com, by Monday, January 9, 2023.

On Friday, January 20, 2023, selected CBVs will receive an invite to the 2023 MQE Authors Clinic (on Friday, January 27, 2023) based in part on their synopsis.

RESEARCH SURVEY ON QUALITY OF EARNINGS REPORTS

CBV Institute’s Research Task Force is pleased to announce the winning proposal for the 2022 Ian R. MQE APPEALS DEADLINE – DECEMBER 31

Students who are not successful on the MQE may request an appeal of their examination results within 30 days of receiving their mark. The deadline is December 31, 2022.
