Registration for the 2023 Winter Term is now open and available on your “My CBV” dashboard. The deadline to register is January 12, 2023, and late registrations will not be accepted.

The nomination deadline for this award is December 31, 2022.

The Top CBV Under 40 in Memory of David Cornfield CA, CBV, recognizes an exceptional CBV on-the-rise in their career who has demonstrated success in a broad diversity of interests, brought distinction to the profession, and embodies outstanding service. Such a CBV is inspiring not only for career accomplishment but for realizing meaningful ways of giving back while achieving impressive professional goals.

MQE 2023 - CALL FOR QUESTIONS

Preparations for the 2023 MQE are underway! CBVs interested in submitting a question for the 2023 MQE should submit a 1-page synopsis of their question to CBV Institute's Education Department, at education@cbvinstitute.com, by Monday, January 9, 2023.

On Friday, January 20, 2023, selected CBVs will receive an invite to the 2023 MQE Authors Clinic (on Friday, January 27, 2023) based in part on their synopsis.

MQE APPEALS DEADLINE – DECEMBER 31

Students who are not successful on the MQE may request an appeal of their examination results within 30 days of receiving their mark. The deadline is December 31, 2022.

To appeal an MQE result, log-in to your profile. From your dashboard, click on the “MQE” tab, scroll to MQE history, and click appeal."

WE’RE HIRING! MANAGER, RESEARCH & THOUGHT LEADERSHIP

CBV Institute is looking to hire a full-time Manager of Research and Thought Leadership. Reporting to and working closely with the Vice President, Regulatory and Standards, this person will also work closely with CBV Institute’s Marketing and Communications, Continuing Professional Development, and Education teams.

The Manager of Research and Thought Leadership will play an instrumental role in the development and sourcing of high-quality thought leadership to: (1) inform public audiences about the business valuation profession (and CBV profession specifically) and set it apart from other professions, and (2) support Students and Members in their professional growth as leaders in the business valuation profession.

If you're considering applying for any special membership statuses (parental leave, retiree, financial hardship, disability or education), please submit your form to membership@cbvinstitute.com. Please note, if you currently are a retired member, you do NOT need to resubmit a retiree form.

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS – CSSB BOARD

Canada's standard setters are recruiting volunteers for the inaugural Canadian Sustainability Standards Board (CSSB). With a targeted launch of April 1, 2023, the CSSB will be responsible for developing Canadian sustainability standards, acting on behalf of Canadians to ensure sustainability disclosures are standardized and as decision-useful as financial and audit reports. CSSB members will work with and inform the creation of global sustainability disclosure standards by the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB).

The Committee is looking for 11-13 individuals dedicated to the CSSB’s objectives of embedding financially relevant sustainability disclosures into external reporting and driving decision-useful information. The initial appointment is for a three-year term, with the potential for a second. Annual time investment is expected to be around 250 – 300 hours. As professionals who enable and support the external reporting process, CBVs have an important role to play in writing the next chapter in Canadian standard setting. Applications are due January 15, 2023.
