REGIONAL DIRECTOR ELECTION RESULTS

CBV Institute held regional elections for the Province of Quebec and the Province of Ontario (excl. Toronto). The term of these elected Directors will be for three years and will commence immediately following the next Annual Meeting of Members, scheduled for June 25, 2024.

The results are:

Quebec – Patrice Dumais, CPA, CFA, CBV, ASA – Partner at EY
Ontario – Trevor Hood, CPA, CA, CBV, CFF – Partner and President, Valuations at SB Partners

The Board wishes to express its appreciation to the other candidates in this election for their interest in serving the Institute.

From Numbers to Gavels: Understanding CBV's Role Through the Legal Lens in Litigations

Gain unique insights into the interplay between CBVs and the legal community at CBV CONNECT 2024. Our panel, including Honourable André Wery (Ret.), Jonathan Allard, and Isabelle Vendette, moderated by Mathieu Lapointe, offers a multi-faceted view. Understand how lawyers, judges, and arbitrators perceive CBVs' roles in litigation support. Learn from diverse perspectives and experiences, enhancing your ability to navigate the complex legal landscape. This session promises valuable knowledge for CBVs engaged in litigation support, offering a glimpse into the judicial thought process.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – 2024 CBV ROADSHOWS

CBV Institute is hosting a series of roadshows across the country to introduce financial professionals to the challenging, unique, and fulfilling work that is a career in the CBV profession. The objective of the event is to familiarize attendees with the value of the CBV designation, and ultimately encourage these professionals to enroll in the CBV Program of Studies.

We are looking for CBVs to attend the events on behalf of CBV Institute. Your attendance would involve participating in the presentation of a pre-prepared slide deck, taking part in a Q&A session, and networking after.

All events are scheduled between 5:30 – 7:30 PM local time. Dates and locations are listed below.

SHAPE VALUATION STANDARDS: IVSC SURVEY

CBVs, your input is vital! The International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC) is conducting an important survey on how ESG factors are being quantified and considered in all types of valuations. This survey represents a unique opportunity for CBVs to inform the IVSC’s efforts to refine and enhance ESG-related standards and practices to meet market needs. As CBV Institute has adopted International Valuation Standards optionally, it is important that our Members respond to this survey. Don't miss your chance to shape the future of valuation standards. Participate now and make your voice heard!

2024 MQE REGISTRATION OPEN

Registration for the 2024 MQE is open. The date of the 2024 MQE is Wednesday, September 18, 2024.

All documents such as policies, mandatory course notes, past MQE booklets, and solutions are available in your CBV Institute account, on the MQE candidate tab. Once it is available, online proctoring information will also appear on your CBV account candidate page, it will be sent via email, and it will be included in an edition of CBV Matters. Students will be given the opportunity to experience the online testing environment.

Ensure that you apply for exemption(s) that you are eligible for prior to registering for the MQE. The system will not recognize that you have completed the course requirement unless you submit your exemption request.

SUMMER 2024 TERM – REGISTRATION OPENS SOON

Registration for the Summer 2024 term opens on Tuesday, April 16, 2024. The deadline to register for the Summer term is Friday, May 3, 2024. Please register early, late registrations will not be accepted.

Updates to the International Valuation Standards
	Please note that the date for this event has changed. On Jan 31, 2024, the newest edition of IVS was published. This comprehensive update includes the addition of new chapters, encompassing Data and Inputs, Valuation Models, and Reporting. The revised standards, effective from January 2025, also place increased emphasis on integrating ESG considerations into the valuation process. To facilitate understanding of the latest updates, join Catalina Miranda, VP, Regulatory & Standards, CBV Institute in a one-hour webinar, as she covers some of the key changes.
