WINTER 2023 TERM – REGISTRATION CLOSES TOMORROW

The deadline to register for the 2023 Winter term in the CBV Program of Studies is January 12, 2023. Late registrations will not be accepted.

If you have any questions regarding registration, please email the CBV Institute’s Education Department at education@cbvinstitute.com.

MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION DEADLINE APPROACHING

A reminder to all individuals who have satisfied all requirements of membership and are looking to submit their applications for the first membership intake in 2023, the deadline is approaching quickly.

REGIONAL DIRECTOR ELECTION

In our ongoing commitment to professional excellence, the Institute's Leadership has adopted a proactive approach to recruit candidates to serve on our Board of Directors (Board). Every seat on our Board plays an important role in supporting us to meet our critical strategic goals for our future. We want to alert you now that we will be holding an election in early 2023 for:

  • the Province of Ontario, not including the City of Toronto.
 

All Members in this specified Region were sent a Notice of Election on January 6, 2023, which included a link to the Regional Director Position Profile.

EXPOSURE DRAFT RELEASED: ADOPTION OF IVS AS OPTIONAL USE PRACTICE STANDARDS

CBV Institute has released an exposure draft proposing the adoption and permitted (optional) use of the International Valuation Standards (IVS) as issued by the International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC) for independent valuation engagements which would otherwise be performed in accordance with CBV Institute Practice Standards Nos. 100, 110, 120 and 130. For clarity, IVS would be adopted as an option alongside, rather than replacing, Practice Standards Nos. 100, 110, 120 and 130.

CBV Institute and its Professional Practice and Standards Committee (PPSC) have been discussing the adoption of IVS for several years. The publication of this Exposure Draft is a significant step forward towards global harmonization of valuation standards for the benefit of the public interest. CBV Institute and CBVs have had a leading role in shaping IVS into what they are today – the leading internationally recognized standards for valuations of all asset types, including business valuation.
