Associate / Senior Associate – Business Valuations and Corporate Finance Advisory

Responsibilities

Our diverse engagements involve a broad range of services in corporate finance, business valuation and litigation support.  You will be responsible for the management of each engagement including planning/methodology, communications with clients, financial research, review and analysis of documents, conducting and leading meetings with clients, and preparing well-written reports.

Your responsibilities, among other related tasks, will include:

  • Preparing business valuation reports in the context of transactions, corporate reorganizations, litigation and financial reporting including purchase price allocations, impairment testing for goodwill and other intangible assets and option analyses
  • Perform due diligence in acquisition advisory roles
  • Assessments of companies’ financial positions, forecasts and business plans
  • Industry and other financial research
  • Analyze company and industry-specific strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats with a view to determining / projecting the cash flow of a company
  • Develop financial models used for M&A transactions and valuation reports (MS Excel)
  • Assist in managing, training and developing Analysts to become business valuation experts
  • Prepare billings for clients
  • Market the firm’s services, including: development of relationships with WBLI’s current and prospective clients and with the Halifax area business community

Requirements

  • CA designation required
  • CBV designation is an asset, or in the process of attaining a CBV
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience within a professional services firm
  • Have prepared and analyzed financial statements and financial projections (using MS Excel)
  • Ability to rapidly identify key issues during an engagement and make recommendations
  • Must be highly organized, detail oriented and possess well-developed project management skills
  • Analytical and creative thinker with an ability to think “outside the box”
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Possess a marketing sense and capability
  • Comfortable presenting to varying sizes and levels of audiences
  • Very professional in appearance, substance and delivery
  • Proactive coupled with consistent daily effort
  • Truly “passionate” for the area of business valuation
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal abilities
