Awards and honours bestowed by CBV Institute are a proud and long-standing tradition, recognizing outstanding achievement and exceptional accomplishment in the CBV profession. Most awards begin with a nomination by peers and undergo a rigorous review by Institute committees or sub-committees, with final approval by the Board of Directors. Awards and honours are presented annually before the CBV community.
Awards for academic excellence
In honour of George Ovens, CBV, a founding member of CBV Institute, this award is presented to the individual who achieves the highest mark on the Membership Qualification Examination (MQE). Special recognition goes to the second- and third-highest marks. This award is sponsored by PwC.

In honour of Ronald W. Scott, CBV, this award is granted annually to the individual who achieves the highest average mark across all required courses in the CBV Program of Studies.

CBV Institute Awards of Excellence
Presented to a CBV under 40 who has demonstrated success across a broad diversity of interests, brought distinction to the profession, and/or given outstanding service in a number of areas. This award is sponsored by Deloitte.

Granted annually to a CBV or Registered Student whose volunteer contributions have had a significant impact on the advancement of CBV Institute programs, services, and objectives. The award includes a $1,000 donation to the charity of the recipient’s choice, and complimentary registration for CBV Institute’s annual conference.

Recognizes a CBV who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and commitment to advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion within the profession — championing inclusive practices and inspiring others to help shape a more equitable future for the community.

Hall of Honours
The Fellow designation is the highest honour CBV Institute confers. The FCBV recognizes CBVs who have brought distinction to the business valuation profession and achieved recognition in their professional lives and their communities.

Can I be nominated again if I’m not chosen as a Fellow?
Yes. If a nominee is not awarded the FCBV designation in a given year, they are eligible to be nominated in a subsequent year. There is no limit to the number of times a nominee can be submitted for consideration.
The Life Member honour is granted to CBVs who have achieved eminence in their business valuation careers and have retired from active practice.
