Nominations are now open for Top CBV Under 40 in Memory of David Cornfield CA, CBV. This award recognizes an exceptional CBV on-the-rise in his or her career who has demonstrated success in a broad range of interests, brought distinction to the profession and embodies outstanding service. Such a CBV is inspiring not only for career accomplishments, but for realizing meaningful ways of giving back.

REGIONAL DIRECTOR ELECTIONS

In our ongoing commitment to professional excellence, the Institute’s Leadership/ has adopted a proactive approach to recruit candidates to serve on our Board of Directors (Board). Every seat on our Board plays is vital in helping us achieve our critical strategic goals and shaping our future. We want to alert you now that we will be holding elections in early 2025 in the following Regions:

  • The Provinces of Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island (collectively “Atlantic Canada”)
  • The Province of British Columbia and the Territory of Yukon
  • The Provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, and the Territories of Nunavut and Northwest Territories (collectively “Prairies”)
  • The City of Toronto

MQE 2025 - CALL FOR QUESTIONS

Preparations for the 2025 MQE are under way! CBVs interested in submitting a question for the 2025 MQE should submit a one-page synopsis of their question to CBV Institute's Education Department, at education@cbvinstitute.com, by Monday, January 6, 2025.

Selected CBVs will be invited to the 2025 MQE Authors Clinic (on Thursday, January 12, 2025) based in part on their synopsis.


PRACTICE CORNER: FEE QUOTATIONS

Have you considered that unusually low fee quotes for independent valuation services could be problematic? While fees are generally a commercial matter and not addressed by professional standards, low fees carry potential implications for the scope and perception of the quality of work. Consider, for instance, that a low fixed fee may quickly run out, possibly putting pressure on the practitioner to perform a less thorough analysis than the situation requires.
