CBV CONNECT 2024 RECAPCBV CONNECT 2024 in Montreal was a resounding success! Over two days, CBVs, Registered Students, and guests gathered to network, learn, and share insights. Keynotes and session speakers provided valuable perspectives on the global economy and the future of business valuation, including trends in technology and ESG factors. Attendees had ample opportunities to engage with industry leaders and peers. SEEKING PART-TIME ACADEMIC ADVISORCBV Institute is seeking an experienced and dedicated CBV to support our Education Department in the role of Academic Advisor (as a part-time independent contractor). The Institute’s Academic Advisors play a pivotal role in the Institute’s Program of Studies and act as an intermediary between the course instructors and Institute staff. This pivotal role collaborates with another Academic Advisor to support the delivery, evaluation, and enhancement of our Program of Studies, administered in partnership with York University. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in education and business valuation, demonstrating a commitment to maintaining and improving the highest standards of our educational offerings. Experience with testing and assessment in business/ finance education would be considered an asset. This role will specifically involve oversight of Level II, Level III, Corporate Finance, and Private Investments courses. |

CBV MATTERS TO GO BI-WEEKLYStarting on July 3, 2024, CBV Matters will be transitioning to a bi-weekly schedule for the duration of the summer. CBVs and Registered Students will receive CBV Matters on July 3, July 17, July 31, August 14, and August 28. The schedule will return to weekly on September 4. SPONSORED RESEARCH INITIATIVE – REQUEST FOR PROPOSALSProposals for CBV Institute’s annual Sponsored Research Initiative are due by September 9, 2024. CBV Institute welcomes all submissions that further innovative research in the business valuation field, including from students of the CBV program and from CBVs at any stage of their career. Submissions are also welcomed from academics and professionals who do not hold the CBV designation but who work in complementary areas such as accounting, finance, economics, data science, and litigation. The winning proposal can be on any under-explored topic of relevance to business valuation practitioners. Top-of-mind topics include: (1) ESG/sustainability (e.g., how ESG considerations – beyond their purely financial aspect – may be taken into account in business valuation); (2) Generative AI (e.g., how to value generative AI processes as part of an organization's value-creation process); (3) lingering effects of Covid (e.g., shifts to the labour market and other costs); and (4) intangible assets. CBV Institute provides compensation of $10,000 for completion of the selected research project. |
