Many people, especially those used to texting and tweeting, don’t differentiate between casual and business e-communication. Your brand and reputation could be at risk if you don’t have a clear understanding of what your clients and colleagues expect when they interact with you and your firm electronically. In this seminar we take a fresh look at e-mail best business practices.  We’ll cover:

Mechanical issues – things like:

  • The need for proper spelling, punctuation, and grammar
  • Using formatting features – headings, bullets, indentation, and so on
  • Using meaningful subject lines and changing the subject line
  • Using reply vs. reply all
  • Using BCC

Subjective Issues – things like:

  • The fact that e-mail can be perceived as having a tone
  • Gauging appropriate formality
  • Deciding when to use e-mail vs. when to phone or speak with someone in person
