Continuing professional development (CPD)—including meeting CBV Institute’s Code of Ethics and Mandatory CPD Policy requirements—helps CBVs maintain the knowledge and capabilities needed to provide competent professional services.

At least half of your hours must be verifiable, meaning you can support them with evidence such as a certificate or confirmation of attendance. Report your hours to CBV Institute by 1 March each year.
The Mandatory CPD Policy applies to all CBVs, and to Registered Students who have passed the MQE but not yet earned the designation. You’re exempt in the year you pass the MQE. Retired, disability, and parental or family-care statuses may also qualify for full or partial exemptions.
In addition, to comply with CBV Institute’s Code of Ethics, CBVs must maintain their professional competence by keeping current with relevant technical, professional, business and technology-related developments.
Submit your annual CPD Compliance Report by 1 March each year, confirming you’ve met both the annual and three-year requirements. Keep records of your activities for at least five years: CBV Institute audits reported CPD each year and may request supporting documentation. Audit results are published and available to all CBVs and Registered Students.
CPD takes many forms, and CBV Institute continually adds new ways to help you stay current — live events, webinars, podcasts, in-person seminars, practice round tables, and more. The signature event of the CPD program is CBV CONNECT, our annual conference held each June.
