Job Level

As a senior advisor, portfolio valuation, you help design, institute, update, analyze and monitor strategies and solutions related to income and expense accounting. You assist with the supervision and monitoring of financial results, budget forecasts, pension plan investments and improvements to financial performance.

You lead and influence development projects and complex, highly innovative strategic initiatives involving multiple sectors. You help develop and recommend strategic directions and business positions. The nature of your assignments requires in depth and extensive expertise in your field.

You make recommendations on the development and completion of assignments and projects with a very high degree of operational and conceptual complexity that call for analysis and a comprehensive, in-depth understanding of the business and the organization. Coordination is critical, so you frequently interact with stakeholders working in many other fields. Interpersonal savvy is therefore essential.

You serve as a specialized consultant and content expert in your field of expertise, and act as a contact and coach for senior management and decision making bodies.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Assist the team in completing private investment portfolio valuations and help support the investment team.
  • Within the framework of the investment and divestiture process, you value companies in which the funds under management have invested in share capital or convertible debentures.
  • Assist as a preparer in the mid-year investment portfolio valuations in compliance with the valuation methodology approved by the board of directors, ensuring that the documentation complies with Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) regulations.
  • Act as a collaborator in the updating and development of tools used to establish the value of companies and in the implementation of additional functionalities in the database.
  • Ensure continual monitoring to maintain a high level of expertise in your field of activity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience, with a minimum of 2 years in business valuations
  • Experience valuing new technologies and companies in the early stages of development (an asset)
  • Other combinations of relevant training and experience may be considered.
  • Be in the process of obtaining a Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) designation, with experience in valuing private companies
  • For available positions in Quebec, note that knowledge of French is required
