We are looking for a Forensic Accountant with solid analytical and auditing or valuation skills who wants to become a part of this passionate team. We currently have openings in our Ontario offices (Ottawa, London and Toronto).

Job Summary

The Forensic Accountant’s primary responsibility is to use their accounting, auditing, valuation and investigative skills to review and analyze financial data, prepare financial schedules and reports for our clients.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Review and analyze financial data to find/identify discrepancies or irregularities
  • Prepare financial schedules and reports for insured losses (cyber business interruption, property business interruption, fidelity / employee dishonesty / crime, stock losses, accident benefits, disability benefits, past and future loss of income (personal injury and fatality), loss of earning capacity and present value of future care costs)
  • Prepare financial schedules and reports for litigation (family law, expropriation, contract / shareholder / commercial disputes, intellectual property and loss quantification)
  • Assist with private and public sector investigations, international arbitrations, forensic audits, risk assessments, allegations of misappropriation, fraud risk assessments, fraud risk management frameworks and public sector employee investigations.
  • Perform financial analysis in the context of legal or potentially legal disputes
  • Respond to client inquiries in a timely manner
  • Meet time budget and deadlines as expected per file
  • Maintain appropriate legislative knowledge on an ongoing basis
  • Assist with attending conferences, events, presentations and proposals
  • Other duties as required

Education and Professional Skills/Knowledge

  • Strong analytical, accounting and auditing skills
  • 1-3+ years experience in forensic accounting
  • CPA designation or working towards CPA, CBV, CFF, CFE designations an asset
  • Knowledge of insurance loss quantification and claims consulting process
  • Knowledge of family law, personal injury, accident benefits an asset
  • Highly detail oriented, excellent organizational/time management and communication skills
  • Bilingual in English and French preferred
