Ian is the Chairman of Gus Wanke Capital Corp. and is focused on identifying and investing in mid-market private companies. Ian brings more than 17 years of M&A, Private Equity, and Business Valuations experience, and had spent more than 11 years at a leading Canadian pension fund, British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI), where he was directly involved in the investment and commitment of more than $7 billion of capital during his tenure. Most recently Ian held the position of Managing Director and Head of the Business Services sector vertical within the Private Equity team at BCI and he was also a member of the Private Equity Investment Committee. Prior to BCI, Ian was a Vice President within Deloitte’s Corporate Finance / Investment Banking team in Vancouver, where he focused on sell-side M&A engagements and Ian also held roles within Deloitte’s Transaction Services and Business Valuations teams. Ian started his career completing private equity acquisitions for Krystal Financial Corp. (now Krystal Growth Partners), a Vancouver-based family office. Ian has experience sitting on non-profit and regulatory boards and has acted as a board observer for multiple private companies across North America, Europe, and Asia. In the past, Ian was a Course Instructor for the CBV Institute’s Corporate Finance course, he was a member of the CBV Institute’s Education Committee, and he was an Academic Advisor overseeing the program delivery for various CBV Institute courses. Ian holds CPA, CA, CBV, CFA, and CIM designations and received a Bachelor of Commerce from the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia.
