CBV Institute leads the Chartered Business Valuator profession, Canada’s only designation dedicated exclusively to business valuation since 1971. Across Canada and around the world, our Members and Registered Students bring rigour, independence, and judgment to the questions that matter most about what a business is worth.
As a not-for-profit body governing the profession in the public interest, we set and uphold the standards that make a CBV’s work credible through education, accreditation, and governance. We continually adapt and evolve to keep the profession at the forefront of business change.
The credibility of the CBV designation rests on a rigorous Program of Studies, the Membership Qualification Examination, professional Practice Standards, and a Code of Ethics. The designation is maintained through practice inspection and continuing professional development. That foundation is why CBVs are recognized by courts, tribunals, and securities regulators, in Canada and internationally, as experts in business valuation and related financial matters.
Today, more than 2,800 Members and 1,400 Registered Students carry the designation forward across the country and abroad. When the stakes are high, businesses, courts, and decision-makers turn to a CBV.
