The Financial Reporting & Valuation teams are responsible for overseeing the valuation process for private market, public market, and fixed income investments at BCI. The team performs a rigorous review to ensure that the fair value determined for each investment can be relied upon for client reporting, financial reporting, and strategic decision making at BCI.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

You will lead the quarterly valuation process for BCI’s limited partnership (“LP”) fund investments. Leveraging your expertise in financial statement analysis, you’ll review the statements of over 200 LP funds. You’ll work closely with stakeholders within the Finance department and BCI’s investment teams to co-ordinate this process. You’ll also assist our Financial Reporting team with periodic management reporting and special initiatives.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • A professional accounting designation (CPA)
  • At least three years of accounting or audit experience
  • Deep practical accounting knowledge and experience analyzing financial statements
  • Previous experience in fund accounting or investment accounting is an asset

WHAT YOU GET TO DO:

  • Manage the quarterly fund valuation process, co-ordinating with investment teams to ensure timely flow of information and completion of the process within tight timelines
  • Review and analyze fund financial statements prepared by external managers, working with the general partners to resolve issues as required
  • Oversee the LP fund valuation review work performed by other Finance staff members and co-op students, including managing workload, training, and quality assurance
  • Work with management in Finance to accelerate the fund valuation and reporting process, identifying efficiencies, areas of automation and reducing duplication
  • Periodically assist with the daily valuation of over 10,000 public equity and fixed income securities
  • Assist with financial reporting activities, including quarterly portfolio reporting, annual financial statement disclosure and other projects
