The Role
We are seeking an aspiring Valuation Associate to join our team. You will work directly with the valuation partner, gaining exposure to diverse industries and valuation methodologies. This is an ideal role for a CPA looking to transition from audit/tax into a CBV career.
Key Responsibilities
- Calculation/Estimate/Comprehensive Valuation: Prepare CICBV-compliant valuation reports for tax reorganization, financial reporting, transactions, and litigation support purposes.
- Financial Reporting: Purchase Price Allocations (PPA), intangible asset valuations, impairment testing (VIU and FVLCD), and convertible debentures.
- Research: Conduct industry research; identify and analyze guideline companies, and public/private transaction multiples.
- Support: Review and critique third-party valuation reports on behalf of audit/law firms.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional Path: Currently enrolled in the CBV Program of Studies (or planning to enroll). Pursuit or completion of the CPA or CFA is a strong asset.
- Experience: 1–3 years of experience in public accounting (assurance or tax), corporate finance, or business valuation.
- Technical: Strong understanding of IFRS and the ability to synthesize data into valuation conclusions.
- Communication: Excellent written skills; ability to communicate technical concepts via written reports.
